I am filled with gratitude. This July marks four years sobriety for me and what a whirlwind of a journey it’s been!

It was shortly after gaining my sobriety that I started looking for projects to occupy my time, my mind, my hands... and on a whim (so I thought), my Etsy shop and Laurel's Loop came to be. But it was no whim, it was a very strategic and intentional gift from God as he knew what was to come and he had a plan, which I honestly believe saved my life.

I was isolated in an environment that bred self-doubt, worthlessness, despair, and little did I know, the worst was yet to come. But He knew.
~
Thru my Etsy shop, He gave me so much more than just a therapeutic outlet. When I felt trapped, isolated, alone and far too sober to cope, He gave me a flourishing online business, that kept me busy with new purpose when I didn’t have the mental or emotional strength to see the severity of the storm I was in or how to maneuver in it. He gave me customers that poured positive feedback and words of encouragement over me, replenishing far more than what was taken from me, when I was too weak to take it back myself. When I felt alone, He gave me fellowship with my customers as they reached out to me with custom requests and the meanings behind them, sharing with me who they are, what they are passionate about or the positive message they needed to help them thru what they themselves were enduring.

As I was flooded with these blessings throughout the day, each day, I was reminded I was NOT alone. I was NOT insignificant. I DO have value. As my business grew, my reach grew, and with that, so did my confidence, my strength, my independence, my self-awareness and what my true worth is.

With God’s mercy, grace, love, compassion, my family and friends’ love and support, as well as each and every customer, a true blessing themselves, I am living life, living sober, and most days loving it too. It’s not always sunshine and rose gold, but on those days, at least I know I’m worth the fight. I’m forever grateful.
